Birth takes muscle and I am a massage therapist.
I have been a professional and active doula for 14 years. I have attended over 200 births in ten different hospitals, two birth centers and many, many homes. I am an active doula in the birth room. My goals are to keep you and your family as comfortable and as informed as possible. I want all of your physical and emotional needs met. I want you to know all of your options. I have experience with all the facets of birth including transfers of care, high risk pregnancies, rainbow babies, inductions, gestational diabetes, hypertension, planned and unplanned c-sections, v-bacs and malpositioned babies and losses. I use my experience, my bodywork skills and my childbirth education for every birth I attend. Every birth is like a snowflake no two are ever the same. Jen massaged me in between contractions making sure that I met each one with the tension of jello. P.A - 2009 My doula services include: Free consultation to explain services & answer questions in your home or my Salmonberry office. On call the month around your due date One ninety minute massage before your birth in my office at Salmonberry Birth Center One to two prenatal visits (depending on your needs) to learn your expectations, desires, fears and discuss comfort measures Help you make plans for birth Phone and email support throughout pregnancy/postpartum Continuous support throughout your labor and early postpartum One postpartum visit to review your birth and check in on your adjustment Breastfeeding support Photos with your camera, if you choose I also know a great birth photographer Referrals (lactation, acupuncture, midwives and obstetricians, etc.) References available I have an experienced backup doula available if needed I have attended all types of births (home, hospital & birth center) in Kitsap, Jefferson and King County. I DO NOT charge extra to leave Kitsap County. I believe that the hospital options, equipment and providers are often better outside of Kitsap County. That day will forever be one of the hardest days in my life, and you helped me kick it ass ! I am also open to trades. For those working with Salmonberry Birth Center that are also taking childbirth education with me I offer a reduced rate package deal. It is a savings of $150.00 If you are receiving WIC or DSHS I offer $200.00 off my doula fee I believe that everyone should have a doula. 2015 Statistics 20 births 11 home 9 hospital 3 cesarean sections ( two of these exit B babies were over 10lbs !) 15% csection rate which is exactly the World Health Orgs goal and less than half the national average.
